The two sides meet knowing a place in the final is up for grabs, with the potential of being just one match away from lifting the trophy.
Argentina is looking to reach its sixth World Cup final, while Croatia is hoping to write itself into the history books as the fourth European nation to reach consecutive finals.

Is Argentina to edge in a tight contest?
This one will be a battle, no doubt about that. I think it’s hard to imagine either side dominating the match — both have a strong midfield with players that like to retain the ball and look to play in the middle and final third.
As ever with a World Cup semi-final, both sides will be nervous about conceding early and will likely look to draw each other out, only offering a few tentative jabs in the opening stages as they seek to last a full 12 rounds.
So, I think it will be tight.
But, crucially, something tells me this will be a step too far for Croatia’s ‘Golden Generation’. Maybe it’s just that they simply can’t keep winning on penalties, or maybe it’s Argentina’s superior forward line, but I think that the South American side will triumph.
I don’t usually believe in destiny but all signs seem to be pointing towards Messi finally getting his hands on the World Cup — and I think he will have a big say on the outcome of this match
