India Football: Manipur CM N.Biren Singh confirms that they are working on hosting big tournaments like the ISL.
Manipur Chief Minister, N Biren Singh has confirmed that his government is looking to promote football in a big manner in the state and that they are targeting to host matches of top football tournaments like the Indian Super League (ISL).
N.Biren Singh revealed that the state authorities have been in talks with experts to increase the seating capacity of the main stadium of Khuman Lampak Sports Complex by double and also upgrade the ground and facilities.

The Chief Minister who was speaking at the inaugural function of the 12th Hockey India Sub-Junior Women National Championship 2022 at Khuman Lampak Hockey Stadium in Imphal also reiterated that the government would soon start construction of stadiums in six hill districts with each estimated to be cost INR nine crore.
Despite being a small state, Manipur is known for its love of football and other sports, with Singh confirming that the state government had started construction of an Olympian Park in honor of their dedication and commitment to the field of sports.
NorthEast United FC is currently the only club in the ISL from the North East part of India, though the Indian national team has seen several stars come from that part of the country, with Bhaichung Bhutia an icon of the sport in India.
